Lightbox Series

All light boxes were created using rice paper, each sheet was either dipped in wax and folded or painted with wax on the surface. Once the wax dried, the paper was dipped in black ink. The ink adhered only where the wax was absent or had broken, staining the paper. After drying, the rice paper was ironed between sheets of newsprint. The heat drew the wax to the surface, while the newsprint absorbed it, leaving the rice paper free of wax. The papers were then layered to create depth and lit from behind, inviting viewers to explore the layers. The experience shifts depending on whether the lights are on or off.

The linocut print, Grounded Horizon, was printed in multiple colors and torn into strips. The strips were then arranged to create a wave like motion across the surface.
